Nothing runs until you do, unless you switch on Auto-analyze yourself. “Should you watch this?” is a separate check and costs no analysis.

When you come back
Open the main Keepframe panel on YouTube and it shows your recent videos with their Live Frames still loaded. Reopening one costs no analysis. Anything you press Keep on is saved locally in Kept Frames, together with your notes and Snapshots.

You're in control of what gets analyzed.
You choose the video
An analysis starts when you press Analyze this video, or when you switch on Auto-analyze yourself. Nothing else is analyzed on its own, and you decide which video to turn into learning materials.
Private by default
No Keepframe account required. You do not create an account or sign up, and there is no personal profile; your usage is tied to a pseudonymous installation identifier. Paid subscriptions are handled securely by Stripe, which receives the email address you give it at checkout. We never sell your data.
Used only to build your materials
For the feature you choose, the extension uses the video's transcript and details — including the description and a selection of comments for “Should you watch this?” — to produce what you asked for. A public video’s transcript may also be kept for a limited time in a shared cache. See the full Privacy Policy.

Can I check whether a video is worth watching before I commit an hour?
Yes. Open the video and run “Should you watch this?” Keepframe reads the description and a selection of comments and shows you why the video may be worth your time and why you may want to skip it. It never uses one of your video analyses. On Free it is available during your first 7 days; on Pro and Power it is always available.
Does it work on all YouTube videos?
It works on YouTube videos that have captions available — either uploaded by the creator or auto-generated by YouTube. If a video has no captions at all, Keepframe can't build Live Frames or documents for it.
Do I need YouTube Premium?
No. Keepframe works with standard YouTube and does not require YouTube Premium.
Does it work on desktop Chrome?
Yes. It's a desktop Chrome extension and runs in a sidebar next to the YouTube player. It's built for the desktop browsing experience.
What happens if a video has no captions?
Live Frames and study documents are generated from the transcript, so a video with no captions can't be analyzed. You'll see a clear message rather than an empty panel.
What counts as one analysis?
One analysis covers that video’s transcript and the Brief, Study Notes and Full Summary you generate from it — those are not separate analyses. Analyzing the same video again, for example in another output language, uses another analysis.
What is the difference between Brief, Study Notes and Full Summary?
The Brief is a short executive overview — core thesis and key takeaways. Study Notes are structured, organized notes built for revision. The Full Summary is a detailed written walkthrough of the video, section by section.
How long do the documents take?
The transcript opens once you analyze the video — it arrives together with your Live Frames. The Brief, Study Notes and Full Summary are generated when you ask for them; how long that takes depends on the length of the video. They are not kept after a page reload or once you move to another video, so export the ones you want to keep.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free gives you a monthly allowance of video analyses, Live Frames on every video you analyze, the timestamped transcript, Kept Frames with your own notes, and Dig Deeper. For your first 7 days you can also create and export the Brief, Study Notes, Full Summary and your Kept Frames — within your monthly allowance, with no card required.
What can I do on Free after the first 7 days?
Live Frames, the transcript, Kept Frames and Dig Deeper stay available on Free, and you can still copy available text to the clipboard. Creating new documents and exporting files require Pro or Power.
Can I export the result?
Yes. Documents export as Word (.doc) or PDF, your Kept Frames as Word, PDF or a ZIP of their Snapshots, and the transcript as plain text, subtitles (.vtt) or Word. Export is included in Pro and Power, and in your first 7 days on Free. The notes you add and the text generated for you are yours to use for your own learning. Snapshots are intended for personal notes and learning. Rights in the source video and on-screen material remain with their respective rights holders.
How much of a video does each plan cover?
Live Frames are built around where you are watching, not from the top of the video, so the coverage lands on the parts you actually reach. Free covers the area around the part you are watching. Pro reaches further ahead, for talks, lectures and longer videos. Power keeps building across the whole video, including multi-hour material — on very long material Free and Pro eventually run out of new Live Frames for that video, and Power does not.
How do languages work?
You choose the language your Live Frames and documents come out in — 95 languages are available. The transcript stays in the language of the video, and the extension's own interface is in English. Pick your output language before you run the analysis: changing it afterwards means analyzing the video again.
How does privacy work?
You choose which videos to analyze.
